In this edition I want you to break down what is personal growth and how to built the perfect conditions to start growing.
For this 4 recognized people, the personal growth is:
Tony Robbins: "Personal growth is the process of becoming the best version of yourself, working on developing skills, making decisions and eliminating limiting patterns".
Deepak Chopra: "Personal growth is the pursuit of self-realization, a path toward expanding consciousness and discovering one's life purpose."
Louise L. Hay: "Personal growth is the process of acceptance and self-love, in which one learns to free oneself from guilt, fear and resentment in order to live in peace and harmony".
Wayne Dyer: "Personal growth is inner transformation, the process of evolving spiritually and emotionally to achieve fulfillment and happiness".
There are many concepts they define it, but how do we start working on it? Where do we lay the foundations?
These 4 people talk mainly about:
Skills development
Decision making
Discovery of purpose
Self-realization
Harmony
Happiness
I think these concepts are very good and true, but, it’s difficult to put them into practice on a daily basis, today I am going to try to do it for you.
Basic elements for personal growth
First of all, the question is to think about...what do we have in our life and what weight do we give to each one?
There are 3 major areas that group 80% of our life, these areas are:
Meaningful relationships with family and friends
Personal life
Professional life
Each of these variables is super important to be happy in the short and long term.
From my point of view, personal growth is based on how we relate to each of these variables and then how these variables interrelate with each other.
I think you have to discover how to find the balance between these 3 variables in your own way. That is, no one is going to tell you to dedicate 33% of effort to each one, but you have to decide how much weight you give to each one and what progression you want.
Once we know that these 3 variables exist, the next step is to know what you want and what they mean for you:
What is the ultimate goal of your relationships?
What is the ultimate goal of your personal life?
What is the single goal of your professional life?
These questions are difficult to answer, but it is vitally important that you know the answer, only then you can begin to design your life and shape your environment. Each of these variables can have 1,000 pieces, but you need to frame these pieces into a larger one. This will allow you to know which little piece is moving you forward and you have to enhance it and which little piece is holding you back and you have to eliminate it.
If you know where you want to go, it is much easier to trace the path.
And if you don't know where to go? There's no rush, take your time to figure it out. You may not feel good about responding to these things already, but it's essential that you start iterating. Do your first test, set a goal this month or this week of something in each aspect, try things out and see what you like and don't like, until you are iterating the final goal. But getting into this phase of "discovering what you want" is what will move you forward now and you have to stop and do it right.
Remember that there are 2 types of decisions:
The ones you can go back on.
The ones you can't take back.
Here we are talking about your life, so you can ALWAYS go back... It’s better to go with a philosophy of "move fast and break things" than not being prudent in everything you do so you don't bother anyone.
